It's just started snowing those giant, floppy flakes that in a few weeks will evolve into those giant balls of sludge hurtling from the sky that characterize springtime snow. I honestly don't mind winter, but this part is inconvenient.
So, via Wende, a list of things that someone thinks I might have done by this point in my life.
- Started your own blog (um...yeah)
- Slept under the stars (I've never slept over the stars...)
- Played in a band (does marching band count?)
- Visited Hawaii (only for a few hours in the middle of the night)
- Watched a meteor shower
- Given more than you can afford to charity
- Been to Disneyland
- Climbed a mountain (I guess, sort of, part of one...)
- Held a praying mantis
- Sang a solo
- Bungee jumped (I have no desire whatsoever to do this)
- Visited Paris
- Watched a thunder and lightning storm (at every opportunity)
- Taught yourself an art from scratch (what's an art? I taught myself to crochet, and to snake a drain...)
- Adopted a child
- Had food poisoning (surprising, but not that I remember)
- Walked to the top of the Statue of Liberty
- Grown your own vegetables
- Seen the Mona Lisa in France (um, as opposed to the Mona Lisa in Zimbabwe?)
- Slept on an overnight train (Rome to Paris...I think I was 13?)
- Had a pillow fight
- Hitch hiked
- Taken a sick day when you’re not ill (this really depends on how you define ill. My conscience is clear.)
- Built a snow fort
- Held a lamb (Only part of one. I got it at Safeway.)
- Gone skinny dipping (yuck. Just saying.)
- Run a Marathon
- Ridden in a gondola in Venice (no, but ridden every other form of Venetian transport)
- Seen a total eclipse
- Watched a sunrise or sunset
- Hit a home run
- Been on a cruise
- Seen Niagara Falls in person (Once in winter. There was a lot of ice.)
- Visited the birthplace of your ancestors (You mean Kentucky? Well, I've been to Scotland, too.)
- Seen an Amish community (there are several near my parents'.)
- Taught yourself a new language
- Had enough money to be truly satisfied (I'm not sure what that means.)
- Seen the Leaning Tower of Pisa in person
- Gone rock climbing
- Seen Michelangelo’s David
- Sung karaoke (I've never seen the appeal of being in a place where people are doing this.)
- Seen Old Faithful geyser erupt
- Bought a stranger a meal at a restaurant (Not on purpose. I was given the wrong bill.)
- Visited Africa
- Walked on a beach by moonlight
- Been transported in an ambulance
- Had your portrait painted
- Gone deep sea fishing
- Seen the Sistine Chapel in person
- Been to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris
- Gone scuba diving or snorkeling (I did spend part of my childhood in Guam...)
- Kissed in the rain
- Played in the mud (I hate dirt. I've always hated dirt. Even as a child.)
- Gone to a drive-in theater (my parents thought it would be a novel experience. Then they couldn't get the audio to work.)
- Been in a movie (I hope not.)
- Visited the Great Wall of China
- Started a business
- Taken a martial arts class
- Visited Russia
- Served at a soup kitchen
- Sold Girl Scout Cookies (never a Girl Scout. But I ate some today.)
- Gone whale watching
- Got flowers for no reason (as long as "because I want them" doesn't count as a reason)
- Donated blood, platelets or plasma (ineligible, due to both medical issues and having lived in Europe during a mad cow disease scare.)
- Gone sky diving (see bungee jumping)
- Visited a Nazi Concentration Camp (I can do this when I visit the birthplace of the rest of my ancestors...)
- Bounced a check (For someone who's good at math, I can sometimes be very bad at math.)
- Flown in a helicopter
- Saved a favorite childhood toy
- Visited the Lincoln Memorial
- Eaten caviar
- Pieced a quilt
- Stood in Times Square
- Toured the Everglades
- Been fired from a job (assuming "fired" doesn't included layoffs)
- Seen the Changing of the Guards in London
- Broken a bone
- Been a passenger on a motorcycle
- Seen the Grand Canyon in person
- Published a book
- Visited the Vatican
- Bought a brand new car
- Walked in Jerusalem
- Had your picture in the newspaper
- Kissed a stranger at midnight on New Year’s Eve
- Visited the White House (only outside)
- Killed and prepared an animal for eating (I'm sure the animal is never "prepared"...)
- Had chickenpox (Never! Even though my younger sister did when she was 3 and I was 6 or 7. The vaccine came out around when I started college, and I got it then.)
- Saved someone’s life (see #64)
- Sat on a jury
- Met someone famous (does the Pope count?)
- Joined a book club
- Got a tattoo
- Had a baby
- Seen the Alamo in person
- Swam in the Great Salt Lake
- Been involved in a law suit (define "involved"...)
- Owned a cell phone
- Been stung by a bee (I sat on the corpse of a wasp-like thing once. I suppose it stung, but not by the creature's volition.)

Your answers made me giggle so loudly that I'm surprised the neighbors didn't knock on the door to find out what was so funny! Thank you!!! That was great! (And I'm sure the Pope thinks he counts. Or counted. Depending on whether you mean the current Pope, or a no-longer-with-us Pope).
